WAVES - Royce Campbell
Short for "Waves On The Beach" so titled by my 8 year old "baby" Breanna. This is a very open and optimistic sound like many of Royce's songs. It's definitely one that feels great to play!BRAZILIAN BLUES - Cathy Morris
A drivin' kind of Latin tune that makes you move, don't you think? Listen for Kevin on those congas, he's hot!SIMPLE THOUGHTS - Cathy Morris
You know, my mother has always given me wonderful advise for life. One of her most helpful thoughts has been ..."Keep It Simple". Well, this one is for her.PRIMETIME - Cathy Morris
Sometimes melodies just write themselves and this was one of those times. Some people think this tune would make a good T.V. show theme. (Go ahead, try announcing the stars on tonight's episode. It does kind of work!) I'm thrilled to have sax player Jim Farrelly join me on this piece as well as Steve Dokken on bass.THE RING - Jim Donica
The very first time I heard this piece I asked Jim if we could record it. It's haunting melody immediately nudged at the folk roots of my violin. That's some pretty serious nudging to effect an electric violin!MARTY GRAW - Cathy Morris
Hey, I think the play on words is cute! This is a party tune heavy on the percussion so I asked Art Reiner to join Kevin and the rest of us for the celebration, New Orleans style!KISS AND TELL - Royce Campbell
Another Royce Campbell hit. Wow, it's getting harder and harder to decide which is my favorite.TESTIMONY - Royce Campbell
Well I wouldn't invite us to play Sunday services yet but when we added Bill Mallors with his Hammond B-3 on this one it started to sound like we were conducting our own revival!BOSSA BLUE - Royce Campbell
This sweet little vignette has a real Charlie Brown flair to it. For all who might not know, pizzicato (can you say pizz-i-cato ?) is the term for plucking the string to make the sound I got in this piece. I just hope I didn't pluck up! Ooooooh sorry about that one. I just couldn't resist! And Now For Something Entirely Different.
MANY LOVES AGO - Royce Campbell
So bitter sweet is this melody that we just had to ask Carroll DeCamp arranger extraordinaire, (and by the way Royce's Uncle) to write an arrangement that would include a string orchestra. Well, that really turned it into a tear jerker. Ron Brinson joined us on drums and Jim Farrelly on flute but making this cut extra special for me was my Dad playing bass with the band.ON THE RUN - Cathy Morris
Long before Cathy Morris & Collage was around I wrote a song that I had always imagined being played with 1) a killer band, 2) an orchestra and yeah o.k. I had even wanted to add some distortion to the violin. Well, life is what you make it. So, here's that song. Thank you Dane Clark, Steve Dokken and the rest of the band and orchestra for bringing this song to life.
