Cathy Morris
Latin Band

The newest sound in the world of Cathy Morris, this band focuses on the works of Latin Jazz composers (plus other Latin influenced cover tunes. With the assistance of Chilean pianist Roberto Monsalves the montunos are "real" and the sound refreshingly different for the middle of Indiana! Vocals are sprinkled throughout with the help of Cliff White (Dog Talk Band) and even Cathy too. Also along for the ride is Steve Dokken on upright bass and Gerardo Beccera on percussion.

Cathy Morris
& Collage

Together for over ten years this all originals contemporary jazz sound goes over regardless of where they play. High energy for concerts or sophisticated and appropriate for background needs. Five CDs have been recorded with this group including one for the holidays and an endless list of appearances in the midwest and beyond. This group also enables Cathy to reach out to students via convocation performances or even collaborative concerts with school orchestras. Be sure to catch 'em when you can.

Over the years I have shared the stage with a few gentlemen working under the name of Collage.
All of them I call Dear Friend as well as musical comrade! Here is your chance to get to know some of the guys!

RoyceRoyce Campbell- composer, guitarist, arranger, producer extrordinaire! With nine CDs under his belt it is no wonder I got off to a running start with his support! You might check out his site at www.roycecampbell.com.

GaryGary Walters
- I refer to as the pillar of the band. He is always at my side to offer musical prowess as needed in the capacity as a musical director, composer, road manager, contractor...And he plays a great keyboard to boot!

SteveSteve Dokken is the bass gem of the Midwest! His musical expertise is unending! Go ahead, call a groove, any groove and he's on it!

Silken Strings

Silken Strings image

Silken Strings has a unique and refreshingly different approach to sharing string music with students. The five piece group stretches the stylistic parameters of their classical string origins by including selections like Dueling Banjos (ala the violin and viola), an original 12 bars blues, a South American rhumba, Disney favorites and a country medley as part of their regular repertoire.
This group is an absolute must as part of an elementary general music education and the ideal reminder for older students as well. Silken Strings have been performing educational concerts, giving workshops and participating in residencies for almost ten years while seeing as many as 20,000 student per year!

People Paint & Percussion

Musicians performing completely chartless improvised sounds inspired by one another but also by the simultaneous free form movement of dancers along with the colors and interpretations of a muralist developing a 4x4 foot canvas! This is multiple-discipline artistic expression in its purest form spiritually connecting with the universe at large. They encourage on-lookers to join in too!  A very fulfilling performance to observe and/or experience first hand.

Rock Soup

Cathy describes this band as a cross between the Beatles and Tom Petty but there are actually a number of other musical ingredients in this recipe! Innovative and fun, these original vocal tunes work perfect for the alternative clubs and its listeners and the electric fiddle adds just the right twist to the overall flavor.

Les Chats du Swing

Two guitars, violin and bass. It started out as a Stephane Grappelli , Django Reinhart idea but of course has evolved into our very own sound! O.k. it might have been those originals we keep throwing into the show! Peter Kienle (of Beeblebrox), Bill Lancton and Joe Deal make the perfect mix for this musical palette from which to play! Oui, oui monsieur!

The Mathematicians

This group is my opportunity to take a trip on the distortion side of music! Original heavy metal jazz is how the music is described. Larry McCullough, Rusty Humphries and Kevin Kouts have honored me by welcoming my violin into their 20 year old collaboration! Check out their home page at www.mathematicians.com

Sunday Brunch Group

Winton Reynolds and Steve Dokken join me every Sunday Brunch playing Winton originals that can be no shorter then five pages in length! I'm joking but this gentleman has a lot to say and I'm thrilled to play his epic pieces! We also dip into some Cal Tjader, Andy Narrell, Sting, Bela Fleck and Strength in Numbers!
