Cathy Morris Bio

Audio artist Cathy Morris brings over a decade of composing, arranging and performing on her electric violin to listener’s of all ages, backgrounds and events.

Electric violinist Cathy Morris has a passion for sharing music with audiences of all ages and everyone can tell! With a presentation that virtually commands the listener's eyes and ears she conveys her genuine enthusiasm for music and life! Combining contemporary jazz with latin rhythms, funk grooves, fusion, rock, blues and even some cajun fun she has created her own distinctive sound that she calls "Party Jazz"!

As a performer you’ll find her in a broad range of arenas: on concert and jazz festival stages in the US and abroad; a feature at world wide events including the opening ceremonies of the World Swimming Championships, Indianapolis International Violin Competition, Formula One and Indy 500 races; as a musical ambassador to world leaders including Mikail Gorbachev and the Prince and Princess of Serbia and US political figures President Bill Clinton, Senator Hillary Clinton and First Lady Laura Bush; in concert opening for Al Jareau, Burt Bacharach, George Benson, Chuck Mangione, Rick Braun and Najee to name a few; and also as a featured guest soloist with numerous community orchestras and jazz bands performing her original music. 
As a recording artist she has five CDs of original music in addition to her nationally acclaimed holiday disc A Cathy Morris Christmas as well as the ’05 release Cathy Morris Latin Jazz showcasing all Brazilian jazz selections and the ‘06 release Sacred Romance; violin and piano music accompanying Sufi poetry. 
As an educator you'll find her in front of and collaborating with literally thousands of students each year performing convocations, conducting workshops and performing her original music she’s arranged for string and full orchestras, jazz band and choir. 
As a composer / arranger 2008 will launch Cathy Morris Music publishing; a library of originals and arrangements of alternative string music for students and professionals.

A staple in the Midwest Arts Community for over 15 yrs Cathy’s career includes nine CDs of original music and arrangements, performances for celebrities, political figures and visiting dignitaries, at music and jazz festivals and concert stages in and outside the US, warming up for countless national artists and playing opening ceremonies for both the Formula One & Indy 500 races in front audiences of over 250,000,

Throughout her career Cathy Morris has been dedicated to using music as a means to embellish the lives of children and the community: Art With A Purpose. In that same vain she has now coupled with Ambassadors For Children to reach a more global community taking music to children around the world.
